I picked up this book at my local bookstore after my dad died, as I was hoping to find some reading material to help me cope with my grief. This book was everything I needed (and more). It was most therapeutic! I laughed and cried my way through the book. It's simply beautiful!
In this thought-provoking book, Machado, using her admirable skills as an investigative journalist, explores the existence of the after life by interviewing people from all walks of life who have had personal and powerful experiences of loved ones reassuring them of love after their deaths. Machado writes beautifully, and also with great compassion, insight and sensitivity about a subject we try our best to avoid in our modern world death. But this is not only a book about death and the grief of loss, but also a book offering great comfort. The book serves as a vivid and unforgettable reminder that love never dies.

An interesting eye-opener. However, is it possible that only the dear departed with positive feedback have put in an appearance? Other less fortunate (unhappy) family members and/or loved ones have probably stayed out of contact, either voluntarily or otherwise.
